We had an awesome week of outreach activities in mid-July with our visiting short-term team from Missouri. Over 300 students, in both public and private school venues, heard the message of the gospel through 4 sports evangelism outreaches while enjoying a fun-packed-high-energy day. The team did an amazing job preparing and organizing everything, and engaged the kids from the first whistle blow to the final moments... just laughing and loving, and sharing Jesus.
Event outreaches are door openers into communities. While prepping for this week, God definitely opened doors and granted favor. We met a new pastor who took us to meet the superintendent of schools in a community we hadn't worked in before. He then connected us with the mayor who invited us to sit and talk on his front porch about the needs of the community and the struggles and challenges their youth face. They opened the public community center to use for the events, and asked us to please come and minister Jesus to their students.
One very special project the team helped us with was to prep the translation of children's bible storybooks. Armed with scissors, glue sticks, clear packing tape and a nifty little assembly line, we transformed 175+ books into very nice-looking Spanish copies, and delivered them to the mama's in our Literacy Project village so they would have something special to share with their children at home. They loved them! And we know that God's word will accomplish what He sent it to do.
Please pray with us as we continue to work in these communities, that the gospel will take root, bring forth fruit and transform lives.
